Tweenies

15-24 months
Your child will be moved into the “Toddler” group when you and the staff agree that your child is ready. Our specially designed Toddler area offers a transitional stage between the Baby and the Tweenie group. The area is created to help the children develop their Social and Physical skills by encouraging independence and freedom of choice, with plenty of opportunity to explore outdoor play. Children will be encouraged to feed themselves, drink from beaker cups and sit at low tables. There are also age appropriate toys that promote sharing and group play.

2 -3 years
As your child becomes more independent and confident, they will be moved into the "Tweenie" group. Activities are more structured and they will start to join in group activities rather than just playing on their own. Every opportunity will be given to your child to make their own decisions and choices, which will help to develop their own personality.

Throughout the day the children will take part in educational activities designed to teach them basic number skills, shapes and sizes, colour recognition, language and communication skills. Creative and messy play is also part of the daily routine. In addition, the children will be given the chance to learn basic computer skills in our Computer & Library area.

Toilet training can be a time consuming and sometimes stressful experience. At Jam Kangaroo, we aim to work with the parents while helping the child to progress at their own speed. Every child is an individual and toilet training will be encouraged when the child is ready, regardless of age.

Around their third birthday, your child will be given the opportunity to visit the Pre-schoolers and meet the staff and children in their new group. We hope this will help make their move as gentle and effortless as possible.

My Year Book

Your child will be given a Year book which is used for recording monthly progress against the key developmental milestones and to display the best of the child's works. Photos of your child captured during activities and outings will be taken and stuck in the Year book, which will no doubt be treasured as the child grows with the Nursery
